What To Expect

Tesla is seeking a Power Originator to join its Corporate Development team. The Power Originator will lead origination, trading, and operations related to revenue generating transactions across environmental and power markets in North America and Europe. The successful candidate will be passionate about Tesla’s mission and demonstrate strong communication skills, analytical thinking, and exceptional attention to detail. The ability to work under pressure and solve problems confidently is essential. This position will be based in London.

What You'll Do

  • Manage all trading of RECs to optimize Tesla’s global renewable energy positions across voluntary and compliance markets
  • Negotiate commercial agreements, including ISDAs, NAESB, and EEIs, related to energy trading in North America and Europe to support the growth of Tesla’s energy market activity across various business units and regions
  • Enable trading of environmental and power products on ICE, NODAL, and other exchanges by coordinating with legal, treasury, credit, accounting and compliance
  • Manage the ongoing reporting, delivery, and invoice requirements associated with all renewable energy credit and power transactions
  • Provide detailed fundamental market analysis to inform business units across the company regarding their exposure to power markets and advise on trading decisions
  • Develop expert local market knowledge on new and existing regulations that affect renewable energy and power markets around the world to guide and inform policy position
  • Produce weekly and monthly financial reports and ensure accurate internal and external financial reporting by working with finance, treasury, accounting and audit teams

  • Evidence of exceptional ability in a professional capacity, with 2-3 years of experience in physical commodities, environmental products, or capital markets
  • Degree in Mathematics, Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to read, interpret, and synthesize complex topics such as financial statements, analyst reports, regulations, and technical documents into concise summaries for senior business leaders and external stakeholders
  • Exceptional attention to detail with excellent technical skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint, and familiarity with Python or R preferred, along with experience leveraging tools for automation
  • Highly collaborative and team-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort with ambiguity, analytical and creative first principles thinking, with the ability to solve problems with limited information
