About Camlin

At Camlin, we're passionate about solving some of the world's most complex engineering challenges.

As a global technology company operating in more than 20 countries, we develop innovative products and intelligent solutions that help power utilities and rail operators build safer, smarter and more sustainable infrastructure.

Our teams bring together expertise in power systems, software engineering, data science and advanced analytics to create technology that makes a real difference. By combining deep industry knowledge with cutting-edge innovation, we're helping our customers navigate the challenges of electrification, decarbonisation and the transition to smarter energy networks.

At Camlin, we believe great ideas come from curious people, collaborative teams and a willingness to challenge conventional thinking.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Power Systems Engineer to join our growing team and play a key role in developing innovative solutions for electricity distribution networks.

In this role, you'll work alongside software engineers, data scientists and technical specialists to transform complex power system challenges into practical, data-driven solutions. You'll develop advanced network models and algorithms, provide technical expertise on UK distribution networks and help shape products that support Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) in making smarter operational and planning decisions.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working across disciplines and seeing their work create real-world impact.

If you're passionate about power systems, innovation and the future of energy, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop, validate and maintain power system network models and associated methodologies.
  • Design, develop and test robust algorithms for power system analysis, optimisation and planning.
  • Analyse network, operational and time-series data to validate models, identify opportunities for improvement and troubleshoot issues.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on UK electricity distribution networks within multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers and data scientists to translate engineering methodologies into scalable solutions.
  • Engage with customers to understand their challenges and help define effective technical solutions.
  • Clearly communicate technical concepts, methodologies and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Manage priorities across multiple projects and adapt effectively to changing business needs.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
