About the Role
Job Title: Technical Power Systems Consultant Location: UK/Ireland Team: Power Systems
As a key player in WSP’s Power Systems team, you’ll lead high-impact energy projects, expand client relationships, and drive delivering consulting work through technical excellence and innovation.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver a range of Power Systems studies, including:
- Control interaction, earthing, and protection coordination studies
- Dynamic studies (frequency/voltage stability, transient overvoltage)
- Grid connection support for onshore/offshore developers
- Energy quality assessments (grid stability, filter design)
- Win business by writing winning bids, proposals, and technical reports
- }Train and mentor junior team members, fostering growth and collaboration
- Maintain strong client relationships, ensuring business continuity via tailored service solutions
Responsibilities in Detail
Technical Expertise & Delivery
- Design and deliver high-standard technical reports, studies, and sector-specific proposals
- Master leading software (DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD, IPSA, CDEGs)
- Ensure accuracy and excellence across all project deliverables

Client & Relationship Management
- Develop and nurture client relationships through direct engagements
- Act as technical advocate to spearhead both new and existing business opportunities
Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor team members and collaboratively apply multidisciplinary expertise
- Lead project integration across departmental skills/technologies
Business Development
- Proactively expand the Power Systems portfolio through targeted proposals
- Identify commercial upselling opportunities on existing projects
Essential Requirements
An Electrical Engineer’s heritage—with deep networking in Power Systems consulting.
- Degree: Electrical Engineering (Power Systems specialisation preferred)
- Experience: Proven expertise in consulting our industry—from technical studies to client-facing delivery
- Network: Industry network/champions ready for insights and commercial opportunities
- Soft Skills:
- Proactive problem-solver with a focus on quality
- Client-oriented mindset
- Ability to thrive in busy environments
