About the Role
As a Senior Power Systems Consultant within our Power Systems team, you’ll lead and deliver a portfolio of projects, including bidding and winning new business. Your role will involve:
- Conducting, supervising, and reporting on specialised power systems studies.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Writing compelling technical reports, proposals, and bids.
- Mentoring and training team members to ensure high standards of consultancy.
In this leadership position, you’ll drive excellence in technical, commercial, and project delivery while ensuring WSP remains at the forefront of grid modernisation and energy transition.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Deliver high-quality consulting work, with a focus on control interaction studies, dynamic systems analysis, and grid connection support for developers.
- Lead transient, harmonic, protection coordination, insulation coordination (switching/lightning), and earthing studies.
- Uphold expertise in industry-standard software: DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD, IPSA, CDEGS (and equivalents).
Project & Biz Dev Management
- Oversee the technical quality of proposals, reports, and project outcomes.
- Develop and pitch multi-disciplinary project proposals to secure new business opportunities.
- Forge strategic client relationships, positioning WSP as the go-to advisor for complex power systems challenges.
- Manage portfolio-wide delivery, balancing multiple projects with tight deadlines.

Critically Desired Requirements
Essentials
- Degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering (or equivalent specialised master’s).
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant power systems consulting experience (excluding internships).
- Strong track record in delivering larger power systems study packages for clients.
- Proficiency in mathematical/technical modelling tools (PowerFactory, ETAP, etc.).
- Proven client-facing strengths: ability to earn trust and sponsors for key projects.
- Advanced analytical skills for fast decision-making in dynamic markets.
Nice-to-Haves
- Industrial embedded experience in grid design, automation, or system integrity.
- Specialisms in energy storage interfaces, electrolyser grids, or charger connections.
- Certifications in safety standards (e.g., ARC Flash Risk Assessments).
