Power Systems Engineer (Data Centres)

RED are an expanding international M&E consultancy, specialising in low energy design and delivering exceptional solutions for digital infrastructure and built environments. With a global presence, we focus on optimising the life cycle of buildings, saving clients time, money, and effort. Our clients’ success is achieved through technical expertise, collaborative leadership, problem-solving creativity, and a strong commitment to people development.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious Power Systems Engineer to join our UK team in London, Bicester, or Newcastle and form part of our Global Power Systems Team.

About the Role

The Power Systems Engineer will design, optimise, and enhance power distribution networks within data centre facilities, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and compliance. You will work closely with design teams to analyse and improve power systems, utilising advanced simulation tools such as ETAP (preferred), DIgSILENT, SKM, or PSCAD. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative consulting environment. We support your development to achieve Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.

Key Responsibilities

  • Simulation Expertise:
    • Conduct load flow analysis to optimise power distribution efficiency.
    • Perform short-circuit analysis to assess resilience under faults.
    • Coordinate protection systems for a robust, safe power network.
    • Execute arc flash studies to meet regulatory safety standards.
    • Undertake earthing studies (LV/MV) to ensure electrical safety.
    • Validate input data for accuracy and provide clear analysis findings.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
