Direct Commodity Buyer (Powertrain Components)

Reference: 56511

Umbrella Rate: A GBP 27.38/hr, increasing to A GBP 35.89/hr after 12 weeks (Inside IR35)

Do you have experience of purchasing within the automotive industry? This is your chance to join a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation as a Direct Commodity Buyer for Powertrain Components. What You Will Do

  • Develop sourcing strategies that leverage the transition from internal combustion engines to battery electric vehicles, ensuring value, quality, and efficiency.
  • Conduct benchmarking activities and market tests to maintain a world-class supply base.
  • Complete sourcing documentation in line with programme timing and cost targets.
  • Place production purchase and tooling orders in accordance with purchasing procedures.
  • Monitor supplier quality performance and drive cost reduction initiatives through effective negotiation and collaboration.
  • Handle raw material negotiations and support distressed supplier management to ensure supply chain stability.

What You Will Bring

  • Proven experience in a purchasing role within the automotive industry, along with a degree qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong business acumen and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrable understanding of the challenges facing the automotive industry and how purchasing can support business objectives.
  • Proven negotiation skills with a track record of delivering cost reductions and value improvements.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams, coupled with strong organisational and project management skills.

In this role, you'll play a critical part in shaping the company's supply base, ensuring it remains competitive and robust in a rapidly changing industry. By driving supplier performance, leveraging cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring quality standards, you'll directly contribute to the company's mission to deliver innovative and sustainable mobility solutions.

Location

This role is based in Dunton, with a requirement to work on-site four days a week. Occasional travel may also be required.
