The role covers the full design lifecycle, from initial concept through to production release.

  • Ensure designs meet safety, quality, reliability, development timeline, and cost objectives defined by the product planning function.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and supplier quality engineers to support design for manufacturability and cost-effective solutions.
  • Review engineering drawings and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards, as well as company and industry best practices.
  • Analyse design options and liaise with relevant stakeholders to resolve undefined details or develop alternative concepts/layouts with recommended solutions.

Skills & Experience

  • HND or BEng in Mechanical Engineering, or similar discipline.
  • At least 7 years’ experience in design/drafting roles.
  • Direct design experience with engine or transmission components and systems; experience within powersports engines and powertrains is advantageous.

  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • High-feature, complex aluminium castings (including die casting, sand casting, permanent mould casting), forging, and machined components.
    • High-feature, complex forged and machined components (e.g. crankshafts).
    • Complex assemblies and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Proven track record of working extensively with PTC Creo or similar Parametric CAD tools (including modelling and drafting), and Windchill or comparable PLM systems.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
  • Effective team player with the ability to work cross-functionally and communicate clearly with system engineers and project teams to deliver model-year-based engine programs.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present and engage effectively with global teams.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
