PR & External Affairs Lead
Location: Merseyside Sector: Not-for-Profit
About the Role The PR & External Affairs Lead will drive impactful communication strategies within the not-for-profit sector, ensuring the organisation’s voice is clearly heard and positively represented. You’ll shape how the organisation engages with stakeholders, the media, and the wider community—making a tangible difference while aligning with core values.
Client Details
This is a well-established organisation within the not-for-profit industry, committed to delivering meaningful services to the community. As a medium-sized organisation, it fosters a collaborative environment and prioritises direct community impact.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive PR and external affairs strategies to enhance the organisation’s reputation
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including media outlets and community partners
- Manage the organisation’s media presence, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and brand values
- Act as a spokesperson when required, delivering clear and consistent messaging
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of PR campaigns, adjusting strategies to maximise impact
- Oversee the creation of press releases, statements, and other external communications materials
- Provide expert guidance to internal teams on external communication matters, crisis management, and compliance
- Ensure all communications reflect the organisation’s mission and values, even under pressure

Profile
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong background in public relations, communications, or external affairs
- Hands-on experience with media relations and stakeholder engagement—a plus if in sectors involving local authorities or combined authorities -Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with a talent for crafting compelling messages
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines under pressure
- Proactive and strategic mindset, with a focus on positive organisational representation
- A relevant degree (e.g., in communications, marketing, or a related field)—or equivalent experience

Job Offer
Salary: £50,000 – £55,000 per annum (competitive)
Working Arrangement:
- Hybrid role with two days on-site in Merseyside
- Fully flexible remote working for other days
