The Business Development & Growth Manager
The Business Development & Growth Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting Wimbart's continued growth by owning and managing the end-to-end new business processes.
This is not a traditional sales role and does not focus on cold outreach or direct selling. Instead, this role is responsible for ensuring Wimbart's new business opportunities are maximized through excellent process management, strategic thinking, compelling proposals, strong client engagement and outstanding execution.
The Business Development & Growth Manager owns the journey from initial enquiry through proposal development, presentation, commercial discussions and successful handover to the client services team, ensuring every prospective client experiences the quality, creativity and professionalism that defines Wimbart.
The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking, commercial awareness and exceptional organisation with the ability to build confidence quickly with prospective clients. They will ensure every opportunity reflects Wimbart's high standards while continuously improving our business development processes, marketing activity and reporting.
This role also supports the CEO on strategic business development initiatives, new service launches and special projects that contribute to Wimbart's continued growth.
Salary band
£32,000-£42,000 - dependent on experience. Full-time, UK-based [Hybrid]
New Business Management
- Actively support and coordinate the new business process from receipt of enquiry through to client onboarding.
- Manage inbound enquiries, ensuring timely responses and an exceptional prospective client experience.
- Qualify opportunities and identify client objectives, challenges and commercial potential.
- Coordinate discovery meetings and chemistry calls with prospective clients.
- Lead the preparation, management and delivery of proposals, credentials and supporting materials.
- Translate client briefs into compelling, strategic proposals that demonstrate Wimbart's expertise and clearly articulate our value.
- Structure proposals with clear deliverables, methodologies, timelines and commercial options.
- Manage commercial timelines to ensure proposals are delivered to the highest standard and on schedule.
- Coordinate the transition from signed proposal to internal client onboarding, ensuring all documentation, handovers and kick-off processes are completed efficiently.
Proposal Development & Strategic Thinking
- Translate client briefs into peerless, creative, commercially compelling communications strategies.
- Develop innovative recommendations aligned with client objectives and market context.
- Work alongside the CEO and senior leadership team to shape winning approaches for competitive opportunities.
- Provide strategic insight and communications expertise during early-stage client conversations.
- Ensure all proposal documents reflect Wimbart's brand, tone of voice and exceptionally high quality standards.
- Maintain and continuously improve proposal templates, credentials, case studies and supporting materials.
RFP & Tender Management
- Lead the end-to-end management of Requests for Proposal (RFPs), tenders and competitive pitches from opportunity identification through to final submission.
- Monitor and identify relevant RFP opportunities aligned with Wimbart's strategic priorities.
- Coordinate internal stakeholders to gather information, develop responses and meet submission deadlines and manage timelines and quality assurance throughout the process.
- Produce compelling, strategically positioned responses that clearly articulate Wimbart's expertise, methodology and value proposition.
- Ensure all submissions are professionally presented, compliant with submission requirements and delivered on time.
- Maintain a library of proposal content, case studies, credentials and supporting documentation to improve efficiency across future submissions.
- Conduct post-submission reviews to identify lessons learned and opportunities to strengthen future proposals.

Client Engagement & Presentations
- Participate in discovery calls, chemistry meetings and proposal presentations with prospective clients.
- Act as a trusted deputy on occasion for the CEO on selected new business opportunities, confidently representing Wimbart during introductory meetings, discovery sessions and capability presentations.
- Bring energy, strategic communications expertise and commercial awareness to early-stage conversations, helping prospective clients understand how Wimbart can support their objectives.
- Build rapport quickly with founders, marketing leaders, investors and senior corporate stakeholders.
- Present confidently, professionally and persuasively in both virtual and in-person environments.
- Support commercial discussions and contribute to structuring engagements that meet both client needs and Wimbart's commercial objectives.
Business Development Operations
- Own and maintain Wimbart's CRM, ensuring all opportunities are accurately recorded, updated and tracked.
- Manage the new business pipeline from enquiry through to conversion and internal onboarding.
- Track proposal status, conversion rates, pipeline value and revenue forecasts.
- Produce regular pipeline reports, analysis and recommendations for senior leadership.
- Maintain excellent records and ensure visibility of new business activity across the business.
- Continuously improve business development systems, documentation and internal processes.
- Ensure all commercial documentation is accurate, well organised and easily accessible.
Business Development Marketing
- Support in-house marketing initiatives that generate awareness and nurture new business opportunities by:
- Managing CRM communications and prospect engagement.
- Coordinating newsletters and email marketing campaigns when required.
- Developing social media content that supports Wimbart's business development objectives.
- Identifying opportunities to showcase client work, thought leadership and company expertise.
- Supporting campaigns that strengthen Wimbart's visibility and market positioning.
- Working with the wider team to ensure consistent messaging across all business development channels.
Project Management & Strategic Initiatives
- Lead or support internal growth projects from concept with the CEO through to implementation with the team.
- Coordinate the rollout of new services, programmes and commercial initiatives.
- Develop project plans, manage timelines and coordinate stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency across the business development function.
- Take ownership of Wimbart's website as a core business development and marketing asset, ensuring content remains current, compelling and aligned with the agency's commercial objectives.
- Coordinate website updates with external developers and internal stakeholders, managing projects from briefing through to implementation and testing.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to ensure Wimbart's website remains an effective business development tool, identifying opportunities to improve content, user experience and the journey for prospective clients.
- Maintain an understanding of website functionality, SEO fundamentals and digital user journeys to ensure the website supports Wimbart's growth ambitions.
- Support the CEO on strategic initiatives that contribute to Wimbart's long-term growth.

Essential
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to draft compelling press releases, pitch decks, social media copy, thought leadership articles, client updates and other communications materials.
- Confident in integrating AI tools into day-to-day workflows to enhance research, brainstorming, content development, reporting and administrative tasks, improving efficiency and the quality of deliverables while enabling more time for strategic thinking, creativity and exceptional client service. Uses AI responsibly and with sound judgement, ensuring accuracy, protecting client confidentiality and maintaining Wimbart's high standards of work.
- Exceptional copywriting and proofreading skills, with strong attention to spelling, grammar, tone of voice and the ability to create engaging, audience-focused content.

- Experience working within a busy PR, communications or marketing team.
