Practice Based Educator – Theatres (Maternity leave cover)
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of the Christie NHS Foundation Trust in the Surgical Theatre team as a Lead Practice educator with a focus of developing, delivering, and managing education across the theatre department. This is a unique and exciting opportunity comes as a 12 month fixed term contract or secondment opportunity.
As Lead Educator, you must have an excellent knowledge of practice education and current perioperative practice. The postholder must hold an educational qualification, hold or be working towards a post graduate certificate or masters level study.
You must be an Operating Department Practitioner registered with the Health Professions Council (HCPC) or a NMC registered Nurse (Adult). Oncology experience is desirable, however not essential.
You will be required to function effectively as a leader of different peri-operative education projects to compliment the provision of an efficient and high-quality surgical service. You must be organised, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with experience of supervising a multi-disciplinary team providing the highest standard of perioperative education across a varied project-load.

You will be responsible for both pre and post graduate education in theatres in addition to practice education across the theatre workforce, inclusive of theatre practitioners, senior and junior, nurses and ODPs, pre reg nurses, pre reg ODPs, healthcare support workers, surgical assistants, specialist practitioners and admin/ support workforce.
You must be motivated and enthusiastic, as well as the ability to work well under pressure and flexibly as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Ensure a welcoming, caring and safe environment, as well as promoting, maintaining and monitoring standards within the department.
Development, implement, and evaluate education within the perioperative complex.
Working both internal and external partners, representing the workforce in an educational capacity.
To participate in clinical supervision programmes as appropriate and teach and act as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor to varying staff groups.
To demonstrate leadership skills and experience in the management of the department and provide high level of specialist clinical leadership.
Support the training and development programme initiated by the division to ensure staff members achieve their full potential.
