This is an exciting time to join our team. We are continuing to implement the principles outlined within 'Better Births', so continuity of carer is high on our agenda.

About the Role

As the Practice Development Midwife you will provide stable guidance and advice to the entire team in the development of skills around the department, whilst ensuring the statutory training is provided to staff throughout the year.

This is a permanent, part-time post for 22.5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participates in the process of staff development and review, completes appraisals and absence management as required.
  • Ensures the maintenance of good relationships across all disciplines within and beyond the trust, by ensuring clear and timely lines of communication are maintained.
  • Exercising of leadership to achieve high staff morale by fostering good relationships and communications between all groups and grades. Be able to recognise issues that may require disciplinary action and liaise with and support the Senior Midwifery team with development of personal improvement plans and staff support relating to education where necessary.
  • Ensures that a safe environment is maintained at all times. Making effort to secure their own safety and that of service users, staff as well as the general public.
  • Reporting accidents/incidents to service users, relatives or staff to Governance and Senior Midwifery Team and completing the appropriate form. Supports the maternity/trust Risk Management Strategy
  • Demonstrates high levels of clinical decision-making skills.
