Practice Manager – 12 Month Fixed-Term Contract (FTC)

Salary: Up to £40,000 DOE Closing Date: 16th July 2026* (subject to change)

About the Role

Location & Details

At Avon Lodge Vets (part of Inspiring Vet Care), we’re seeking a Practice Manager for a 12-month fixed-term contract (FTC) to lead the operational and administrative functions of our Wells Road and Bishopsworth Practices in Bristol.

This role is an excellent opportunity for a proactive manager who enjoys supporting both people and processes to deliver outstanding patient and client care. Working closely with the Director of Practice & Clinical Services, Head Nurse and Head Receptionist, you’ll ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice while fostering a positive, efficient workplace for all.


Key Responsibilities

As Practice Manager, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Operational delivery:

    • Oversee day-to-day administration and operational management of the practice
    • Manage payroll, stock controls, and reception operations
  • People management & development:

    • Manage staff rotas, annual leave, and workforce scheduling (ensuring full practice coverage)
    • Coordinate recruitment, from advertising vacancies to onboarding and new employee induction
    • Support employee engagement, performance management, and staff development initiatives

  • Stakeholder & client relations:

    • Work collaboratively with clinical teams to deliver objectives and maintain high service standards
    • Handle client feedback and complaints
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement
  • Compliance & safety:

    • Ensure adherence to company policies (e.g., Health and Safety), procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., RCVS accreditation)
  • Effective teamwork:

    • Act as a key liaison between clinical leadership and non-clinical teams

Working Patterns

  • 40-hour week, over 4 or 5 days (part-time options considered)
