Practice Manager (12-month FTC) – Salary up to £40,000 DOE

Avon Lodge Vets, part of inspiring vet care, is seeking a Practice Manager on a 12-month fixed-term contract to lead operational and administrative functions at our Wells Road and Bishopsworth Practices in Bristol.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a proactive manager who thrives in a team environment, supporting both people and processes to deliver outstanding patient and client care.
Key Responsibilities
Working closely with the Director of Practice & Clinical Services, Head Nurse, and Head Receptionist, you will:
Core Operational Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day administration and operational management of the practice
- Enhance team performance, service quality, and an outstanding client experience
- Foster a positive, culture-driven workplace for colleagues and clients

People & Team Management
- Manage payroll, staff rotas, annual leave, and workforce scheduling
- Recruitment support: Advertise vacancies, conduct interviews, and manage onboarding/induction
- Lead employee engagement, performance management, and staff development
- Handle process changes and support efficiency improvements
Compliance & Performance Management
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and business goals
- Ensure adherence to company policies (e.g., health & safety) and regulatory requirements (e.g., RCVS accreditation)
- Manage client feedback and complaints
Qualities You’ll Bring
We’re looking for a senior operations manager with: ✔ Proven people and process management experience, ideally in healthcare, veterinary, or customer-service sectors ✔ Strong people leadership skills, including performance management and team development ✔ Exceptional organisational abilities to balance competing priorities ✔ Conflict resolution and change management experience ✔ Stakeholder engagement and communication expertise
