Practice & Wellbeing Leader – Granton
Location: The Action Group, The Prentice Centre, 1 Granton Mains Avenue
About The Role
This essential role requires PVG scheme membership and SSSC registration. Applicants without PVG clearance must be prepared to join before starting, and those without SSSC registration must complete it within six months of employment. Registration must be updated with the SSSC upon joining The Action Group.
Key Responsibilities
The Practice & Wellbeing Leader will:
- Lead a team of support workers, ensuring high-quality, person-centred care for individuals with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and other support needs.
- Foster leadership, staff development, and person-centred practice through:
- Regular management contact, practice observations, coaching, and skills development based on the Quality Conversations framework.
- Supporting the Depute Practice & Wellbeing Leader in building person-centred support across the team.
- Upholding national care standards and SSSC Codes of Conduct.
- Building positive relationships with those supported, their families, carers, and colleagues.
- Drive practice development and compliance:
- Ensure quality support plans, compliance with reviews, and advocacy for those supported.
- Collaborate with the Learning & Development team to deliver training and compliance workshops.
- Strengthen collaboration with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., colleagues, families, external professionals) to enhance support quality, engagement, and wellbeing.
- Act as a staff advocate, providing confidential, trauma-informed support for employees facing work-related or personal challenges.
- Oversee rota management, record-keeping, minute-taking, and administrative duties in partnership with the Operational Leader.
- Maintain clear communication with stakeholders to uphold promise of trust and assure continued improvement.

Who We're Looking For
Essential Criteria
- SVQ Level 3 qualification in Social Services/Service Management, or ability to work towards it.
- SSSC Registration completed (or path to registration secured).
- Proven experience in social care, preferably within Scottish context.
- Leadersips & coaching abilities, focused on staff wellbeing, practice development, and person-centred care.
- Commitment to equality, non-jugmental approach, and discreion.
- Strong knowledge of Scottish care laws, guidelines, and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal), enabling effective engagement with: • Staff across all levels • Individuals and families supported • External professionals
- organisational skills to manage multiple projects, competing deadlines, and cross-departmental demands.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rota.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Teams, Excel) and rota management systems.

Practice Requirements
