Practicing Data Architect
Senior Data Architect
Location: London
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Architect with a minimum of 10 years of experience in data architecture, engineering, and large-scale data platform design.
This role is ideal for a .NET content architect who can operate at both the architectural and engineering levels, driving solution design while actively contributing to implementation and delivery.
Hybrid Working Policy
The places you work from day to day will vary, blending company offices, client sites, and home. Note that 100% remote work is not viable.
Key Responsibilities
- Accountable for delivering effective solution designs within the Bank’s Enterprise Data Lake (EDL) and Operational Data Store (ODS) platforms on Cloudera in AWS, taking the lead on data design from conception.
- Design end-to-end data lake and distributed data solutions to meet business needs within the broader solution implementation.
- Provide input into factory estimation processes, highlighting technical risks, issues, and assumptions.
- Review and provide feedback on design artefacts created by other data solution architects in the factory team.
- Define and derive best practices in the data space, adopting industry standards while identifying areas within the data factory requiring remediation—whether technical or procedural.
- Produce required design artefacts, either independently or collaboratively with a team.
- Collaborate with business and program teams to refine data requirements.
- Present designs to the Bank’s Architecture Review Board when necessary.
- Engage with key stakeholders in the Group Data Office and across the business.
- Support non-factory solution architects on change initiatives.
- Ensure solutions align with strategic architecture principles and direction.
- Review designs produced by technical teams to confirm alignment with the overall solution design.
- Assist in delivery sprints by breaking down solutions into iterative, phased deployments.
- Provide support to engineering functions within the factory, including mapping build, test, and release cycles.
- Evaluate requirements and change requests to ensure the solution design remains fit for purpose.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
