Specialist DBT Therapist – Band 7 (Permanent, Full-Time) – Southwark Service, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust
About the Role
We are seeking a ** Specialist DBT Therapist (Band 7)** to join our Southwark Service within South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM). This opportunity offers the chance to contribute to a friendly, committed team of clinicians, delivering complex psychological therapy services alongside managing risk, personality difficulties, trauma, and social inequalities.
The role plays a critical part in supporting Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) providing care to clients with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), including those with high-risk or challenging interpersonal dynamics. It combines therapeutic practice, education, and service development, with a strong emphasis on cultural sensitivity and practice tailored to the diverse needs of Southwark’s population.
A key feature of the DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) service is delivering a full programme, including:
- Weeklong individual therapy sessions
- Group skills training
- Phone coaching support
- Weekly DBT team consultations

Key Responsibilities
1. Core Clinical Duties
- Offer one-to-one DBT therapy to clients on the Southwark DBT waiting list
- Co-facilitate skills training groups, including DBT-S (Skills Training for Emotion Regulation) or groups for the waiting list
- Provide ** 뿐만러** information, reducing barriers and improving access for diverse clients
2. Team Consultation and Training
- Deliver regular consultation sessions to CMHT teams, enhancing understanding of BPD and deepening DBT-based capabilities
- Lead planned training and educational sessions for care coordinators and teams, supporting best-practice implementation of DBT interventions
3. Service Leadership and Development
- Actively participate in weekly DBT Consultation Teams (Thursdays, 2:30–5:00 PM)
- Ensure a smooth workflow within systems and processes, contributing to the operational efficiency and scale of the service
- Help drive strategic service improvements, ensuring optimal performance and quality delivery
