Pre-Doctoral Scientist - Translational Surgical Oncology Research

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Pre-Doctoral Scientist to join a translational surgical oncology research programme focused on developing early diagnostic approaches for oesophageal and gastric cancers.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the interface of laboratory science and clinical practice, contributing to research aimed at improving early detection and patient outcomes for cancer. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience across academic and NHS settings, including involvement in clinical sample collection and biobanking.

During this pre-doctoral fellowship, the appointee will:

  • Conduct original independent research
  • Develop publication and presentation skills, including national/international conferences and peer-reviewed publications
  • Strengthen translational research skills, with a focus on early cancer diagnosis
  • Enhance science writing and critical thinking
