Pre-Sales Barcode Specialist
Barcode Pre-Sales Specialist – Field-Based (South-East)
Location: South-East UK (with regular travel to customer sites, partners, and Toshiba TEC offices)
We’re seeking an experienced Barcode Pre-Sales Specialist with a track record of supporting barcode hardware and software sales, acting as the trusted technical expert throughout the sales cycle.
About the Role
This role requires a tactical technical pre-sales specialist with deep expertise in barcode hardware, particularly Toshiba TEC label printers. You will collaborate closely with Direct and Indirect Sales teams to drive solution sales, demonstrating technical authority through product knowledge, customer engagement, and commercial acumen.
Key Responsibilities
Scope of Work:
- Provide pre-sales support for both barcode hardware and software solutions
- Deliver technical demonstrations and product training for internal and external stakeholders
- Foster Toshiba TEC’s barcode revenue growth through solution expansion and market development
- Support the sales pipeline by delivering best-in-class technical and commercial positioning
Core Accountabilities:
- Assess customer requirements and align Toshiba’s offerings accordingly
- Demonstrate solutions to customers, partners, and internal teams
- Attend customer/partner meetings to offer pre-sales technical input
- Participate in new product testing and evaluation
- Achieve sales KPIs set by management
- Document customer needs to ensure accurate product selection

Daily Responsibilities:
- Conduct customer discovery sessions to understand operational, technical, and business needs
- Design and recommend scalable barcode solutions (hardware + software)
- Deliver engaging product demos, proofs-of-concept, and technical presentations
- Support **sales teams from qualification to tender proposals`
- Education & collaboration – train internal staff, partners, and customers on solutions
- Maintain expertise across Toshiba TEC’s barcode hardware and software portfolio
- Competitive intelligence – analyse pricing, positioning, and market trends
- Foster technical knowledge sharing within the business
Experience & Skills
Essential:
✔ Proven pre-sales (Barcode Pre-Sales, Technical Consulting, or Solutions Specialisation) with a track record in barcode hardware/software sales ✔ Hands-on experience with Toshiba TEC barcode solutions, label printers, and barcode printing technologies (industrial and desktop) ✔ Strong ability to translate complex technical requirements into tailored solutions ✔ Deep knowledge of proof-of-concept preparation, tenders, and technical proposal writing ✔ Expertise in communicating to both technical and business stakeholders ✔ Experience delivering product training and customer workshops ✔ Exceptional networking skills, Windows integration, and third-party software familiarity ✔ Self-driven, organisationally strong, with the ability to manage multiple accounts independently ✔ Field-based capacity for high travel demands
