Pre Sales Consultant

Technical Pre-Sales Consultant – Cambridge / Hybrid

Location: South Cambridge / Hybrid Salary: £70-75K + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

About the Role

Are you a commercially minded Pre-Sales Consultant with experience across hardware, software, and cyber security solutions? Do you enjoy working closely with customers to understand their challenges and design innovative technology solutions?

Our client, a leading technology solutions provider, is experiencing significant growth and is looking to add an experienced Pre-Sales Consultant to their technical team.


The Role

As a Pre-Sales Consultant, you’ll act as the technical expert throughout the sales cycle, partnering with Account Managers and customers to develop tailored solutions that deliver real business value.

You’ll engage with organisations of all sizes, providing technical guidance across:

  • Infrastructure
  • Software licensing
  • Cloud technologies
  • Cyber security solutions

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the sales team to qualify customer opportunities and understand business requirements.
  • Design and present end-to-end technology solutions covering:
    • Hardware
    • Software
    • Cloud
    • Cyber security
  • Deliver engaging customer presentations, workshops, demonstrations, and proof-of-concepts.
  • Produce high-quality solution designs, technical proposals, and Statements of Work.
  • Act as the trusted technical advisor throughout the sales lifecycle.
  • Build strong relationships with vendor partners and stay current with emerging technologies.
  • Support bid responses, tenders, and RFP submissions.
  • Ensure proposed solutions align with customer objectives, budgets, and best practices.

About You

We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent communication and customer engagement skills.

You’ll ideally have experience in:

  • Enterprise hardware solutions (servers, storage, networking, endpoint devices)
  • Software licensing and infrastructure solutions
  • Cyber security solutions, including:
    • Endpoint protection
    • Firewalls
    • Identity management
    • Email security
    • Backup and disaster recovery
    • Security awareness
  • Cloud and hybrid infrastructure environments

Role Requirements

  • Strong technical background in hardware, software, Cybersecurity, or systems integration.
  • Previous experience in a Technical Pre-Sales, Solutions Engineer, FAE, or Systems Engineer role (customer-facing technical specialty).
  • Demonstrated ability to design architectures and deliver hands-on implementation support.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analysis, and problem-solving abilities.
