What Will I Be Doing?
As a Senior Pre-Sales Engineer, you are a "developer-plus" technical contributor. You are responsible for building high-quality mock backends, APIs, and demo infrastructure, but with a unique twist: you leverage LLMs and Generative AI to prototype at high velocity.
This role sits at the critical boundary between Product Engineering and Go-to-Market. While you won't build production systems, you will build "production-shaped" assets: reusable, well-structured, and documented services that enable credible technical storytelling and high-fidelity client validation.
Core Responsibilities
- AI-Accelerated Prototyping: Leverage LLMs (e.g., Claude and Gemini) to rapidly scaffold, build, and iterate on proof-of-concept apps and mock services. You move faster than a traditional sprint by using AI to handle the "heavy lifting" of boilerplate and logic generation.
- Technical Asset Development: Design, build, and maintain reusable mock services in Node.js / TypeScript. You’ll implement contract-first APIs (REST/GraphQL), manage AWS deployments (API Gateway, Containers), and handle persistence using PostgreSQL or DynamoDB.
- Infrastructure as Code: Manage demo environments using Terraform, ensuring environments are reproducible and secure using existing OIDC authentication patterns.
- Frontend Collaboration: Work closely with frontend engineers to ensure UI components point cleanly to your mock services, debugging integration issues and supporting end-to-end demo flows.
- Strategic Pre-Sales Support: Partner with Pre-Sales consultants to translate client "win themes" into working technical artefacts. You will occasionally demo directly to clients, showcasing how Kaluza solves their specific retail challenges.
- Product & UX Influence: Collaborate with Design and Product teams for UI direction while developing your own design ideas to make Kaluza’s capabilities shine.
- Mentorship & Standards: Set informal engineering standards for the pre-sales team, mentoring others on API design and architecture.
- AI Evangelism: Act as the resident expert in GenAI workflows for the Commercial team, mentoring others on how to use AI to bridge the gap between "slide-ware" and "software."

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
Graduate Consultant — 2026 Scheme
Why you're a good match
StrongYour economics background and your summer at a regional bank line up with what PwC looks for on the consulting scheme. Applications close in four weeks.
See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
You’ve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon — deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
What This Role Is NOT:
- A pure presentation-led role (you will be writing code regularly).
- Shipping production code (your value comes from building things that work for a demo, not maintaining production SLOs).
About You
You are a software engineer by trade but a prototyper by heart. You understand the rigour of clean code but know when to lean into AI to accelerate delivery. You are motivated by the immediate impact of winning new clients and validating Kaluza’s value proposition in real-time.
Ideally You’ll Have/Be:
- Software Engineering Foundation: Strong hands-on experience in Node.js / TypeScript and React. You know how to write code from scratch, which is why you’re so good at prompting AI to do it for you.
- GenAI Power User: Deep experience leveraging LLMs and Generative AI to build apps, debug complex issues, and accelerate the development lifecycle. You aren't just using an AI assistant; you are "vibe coding" complete PoCs.
- API Design Expert: Experience designing clean, well-documented APIs (REST and/or GraphQL) and using Git/Github workflows effectively.
- Cloud & Infrastructure Knowledge: Familiarity with AWS primitives and a proven ability to deploy infrastructure using Terraform.
- Pragmatic & Autonomous: Comfortable operating with ambiguity, translating vague client requirements into working systems through a high degree of initiative.
