Pre-Sales Solution Consultant

As a Pre-Sales Solution Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in the sales process, acting as the technical authority and trusted advisor for our customers.

The successful candidate will have a technical background and be able to sell a vision, but have never wanted to own their own target.

My client is a well-established Tech and Data Consultancy business made up of several different business units.

Network Services Business Unit

The Network Services business unit is a rapidly expanding specialist IT and Networks consultancy offering a wide variety of opportunities to work within challenging and exciting environments with our major clients in Global Media, Banking, Government, Telecoms & Utilities.

Description

Working alongside sales teams, technical specialists, and leading technology vendors, you will act as a trusted advisor to customers, helping shape and design enterprise networking, security, and cloud solutions. This is a highly visible role combining technical expertise, commercial awareness, customer engagement, and solution design.

You will work with organisations across sectors including enterprise, financial services, telecommunications, media, utilities, and the public sector.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Engagement

  • Engage with customers to understand business drivers, technical requirements, and strategic objectives.
  • Lead discovery sessions, workshops, and technical presentations.
  • Build trusted relationships with technical and business stakeholders, including senior leadership teams.

Solution Design

  • Design enterprise-grade networking and security solutions.
  • Develop compelling solution proposals and technical documentation.
  • Create accurate Bills of Materials (BoMs) and contribute to Statements of Work (SoWs).
  • Work closely with sales and technical delivery teams to ensure solutions are commercially and technically aligned.

Bid & Proposal Management

  • Support and manage technical responses to RFPs, RFIs, and tenders.
  • Coordinate with vendors, partners, and subject matter experts throughout the bid process.
  • Maintain proposal templates, technical collateral, and knowledge assets.

Vendor & Market Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with strategic technology partners.
  • Keep current with emerging technologies, market trends, and vendor roadmaps.
  • Contribute to thought leadership, service development, and technical whitepapers.

Project Handover

  • Ensure seamless transition from pre-sales to delivery teams.
  • Provide implementation guidance where required.
  • Participate in solution reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Profile

The successful candidate will be a customer-focused pre-sales professional who combines strong technical depth with excellent communication and commercial skills.

Experience

  • 8-10+ years' experience in a pre-sales, solutions consulting, or technical sales role.
  • Background within a systems integrator, managed service provider, value-added reseller, or professional services organisation.
  • Proven experience designing networking and security solutions for enterprise customers.
  • Strong experience responding to RFPs and managing technical bids.

  • Strong presentation, workshop facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent written communication and proposal development capabilities.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously.

Desirable Certifications

  • CCNP / CCIE
  • NSE4 or higher
  • PCNSE
  • CCSE
  • CISSP
  • CISM
  • Other relevant networking, security, or architecture certifications
