Your new role

As a Premises Assistant, you will join the Building Services team in Bristol, working as part of a small caretaking team to ensure the safe, secure, and effective operation of the school site. The role is varied and practical, supporting the day-to-day running of the school through planned and reactive maintenance, security, porterage, and cleaning duties. You will also prepare the site for assemblies, meetings, and out-of-school activities, respond to emergencies, and support the school in line with established procedures.

The position requires flexibility, including early and late shifts on a rotational basis, availability for evening events, and emergency call-outs when required.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and some understanding of COSHH
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience of building maintenance and systems (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience working with HVAC systems (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience of lone working
  • IOSH Working Safely certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • An Enhanced DBS (CRB) clearance, which is required for this role

You will be reliable, proactive, and able to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.

Shift pattern: 6am-3pm Monday to Friday.
