In this leading Presales role, you’ll play a key technical and strategic part in driving customer success and regional growth across London and the South UK.
The Role
As Senior Systems Engineer / Pre-Sales Specialist, you’ll be the trusted technical advisor to clients, partners, and prospects. This home-based role includes significant travel, adapting to customer needs across London and the wider region.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with sales teams as the technical lead in pipeline development, solution design, and deal closure.
- Drive customer engagement through demos, solution workshops, and technical challenges against competitors.
- Shape proposals for large enterprise opportunities, technical POCs (Proof of Concepts), RFPs, and RFIs.

Core Tasks Include:
- Technical presentations and solution briefings to align requirements with product capabilities
- Support sales cycles from discovery to post-deal validation
- Design, validate architecture, and conduct solution sizing for enterprise deployments
- Expertly position technology around ransomware resilience, immutability, backup performance, disaster recovery, and storage optimisation
- Work with IT leaders, storage teams, and partners to address complex challenges
- Maintain (day-to-day) relationship management with technical stakeholders and key prospects
Requirements
We’re looking for a proven pre-sales expert with core credentials like:
✔ Strong pre-sales experience, ideally in a role such as:
- Senior Systems Engineer
- Pre-Sales Consultant (Cloud/Backup/Data Protection)
- Solutions Architect
- Technical Architect (Data Protection/Security Focus)
✔ Must demonstrate:
- Customer-facing technical alignment: tried and tested ability to guide complex design and sales cycles
- Deep knowledge of technology (e.g., storage, immutability, disaster recovery)
- Competent with primary enterprise backup platforms (e.g., Commvault, Veritas, Veeam, Cohesity, Rubrik)
✔ Experience in:
- Technical demos and solution briefings to strengthen win rates
- RFP/RFI authorship to ensure innovative proposals
- Working closely with channel partners to advance solutions

✔ Preferred (but not essential):
- Experience with ransomware prevention, air-gapped recovery technologies
- Working knowledge of hybrid and multi-cloud architectures
- Proactive, commercial mindset with an ability to influence decision-makers
