Pet Pricing Manager
We're delighted to be recruiting for a new Pet Pricing Manager to join our Pet Insurance team at Admiral.
As our Pet business continues to grow, this is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and innovative Pricing function where you'll play a key role in shaping pricing strategy, leading a talented team, and driving profitable growth.
Pet Insurance plays an important part in Admiral's diversification strategy, and Pricing is at the centre of delivering great outcomes for both our customers and the business.
As a Pet Pricing Manager, you'll be responsible for helping to shape our pricing strategy, ensuring our rates are competitive, sustainable, and support profitable growth. You'll work with large datasets, advanced analytical tools, and market insights to identify opportunities, develop pricing recommendations, and drive improvements across our pricing models and processes.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of analysts, influence key business decisions, and work closely with stakeholders across Pricing, Data, Underwriting, Product, and Technology.
This is a hybrid role, with a presence in our Cardiff office. We offer flexibility around working hours and office attendance to support a healthy work-life balance.
What You'll Be Doing
Pricing & Analytics
- Lead and deliver complex pricing reviews, including rating factors, customer lifetime value, and portfolio performance analysis.
- Develop and present high-quality rate change proposals to senior stakeholders.
- Review and challenge pricing recommendations produced by analysts within the team.
- Identify opportunities to enhance pricing performance through new rating structures, variables, and methodologies.
- Conduct ad-hoc investigations and analysis to support business decision-making.
- Monitor key performance indicators and support delivery of loss ratio targets and wider business objectives.
- Maintain awareness of industry and market developments, bringing external insights into the business.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Pricing Analysts.
- Manage team workload and prioritisation to ensure objectives are delivered effectively.
- Conduct regular 1-2-1s, performance reviews, and development discussions.
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.
- Support colleagues' professional growth and encourage knowledge sharing across the team.

Stakeholder Management
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across Pricing, Data, Underwriting, and wider business functions.
- Represent Pricing in cross-functional projects and initiatives.
- Present pricing recommendations and rate changes to governance forums and senior stakeholders.
- Ensure all pricing considerations are appropriately represented in business projects and decision-making.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure customers are treated fairly in all pricing decisions.
- Adhere to regulatory requirements and internal governance standards.
- Support testing and implementation of pricing system developments.
- Ensure pricing queries, including more complex customer and risk-related cases, are managed effectively.
- Act in accordance with Admiral's Information Security policies and conduct standards.
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience working within a Pricing environment, ideally within General Insurance or Financial Services.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience interpreting complex data to support business decisions.
- Experience using data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, R, GCP, or similar platforms.
- Previous experience managing, mentoring, or coaching others, with a passion for developing talent.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data accuracy.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at different levels.
- Experience presenting recommendations, insights, and analysis to senior stakeholders.
- Proactive, collaborative, and results-focused approach to work.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience within the Pet Insurance market.
- Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Knowledge of insurance pricing techniques, model development, and rating structures.
- Experience working within a regulated financial services environment.
