If you are a proactive, forward-thinking individual who is looking to establish themselves as a key member of a dynamic service then this is an opportunity for you.
These permanent posts have arisen as a result of Primary Care Modernisation and directly from the actions outlined in the Mental Health Strategy (2017-2027). The posts will cover the Caithness and Sutherland areas and are aligned to the GP Cluster Areas there in.
The posts will involve working within the Primary Care Mental Health Service and will provide an exciting challenge to the successful applicants. You will be expected to work within a Multi-disciplinary, virtual and community-based team in partnership with GPs, Primary Care colleagues, 3rd sector and CMHT colleagues, in providing and supervising assessment, risk management, and the delivery of psychological interventions with individuals who present with mild to moderate mental health problems such as depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorder, using strength-based recovery-focused approach that involves the patient as a partner in their treatment planning. The post holder is required to undertake duties without direct supervision as well as supporting and supervising work undertaken by others.
Responsibility for proactively promoting partnership working with patients, carers, and other professionals/agencies in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards, and clinical policies is integral to the job. This will involve working in the local GP surgeries and on occasions in other community environments. The service will provide sessional input to GP practices within NHS Highland (North) and form an integral part of the provision of mental health care at Tier 1 level. It is expected that some of this input will be on a virtual basis so confidence in using virtual platforms is a requirement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
