Primary Care Nurse – HMP Swinfen Hall

We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a Primary Care Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Swinfen Hall, a category C men's Prison and Young Offenders Institution in Staffordshire. This role provides career development opportunities across multiple disciplines.

Hours & Work Style

  • 37.5 hours per week, across 4 days (one 7.30am–7.30pm shift and three 7.30am–5.30pm shifts)
  • Every other weekend available
  • 6-week rolling rota

Salary

  • £34,428 – £41,659 per annum (depending on experience)

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Primary Care Nurse, your duties will include:

  • Working in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse-led service and prevent hospital admissions
  • Undertaking:
    • Medication rounds
    • Controlled medication dispensing
    • Emergency response situations
    • Patient assessments & reception screening
  • Leading nurse-led clinical services while collaborating closely with colleagues
  • Delivering evidence-based, personalised care by seeking and acting on patient feedback
  • Providing non-judgemental, high-quality healthcare with significant impact
  • Building strong partnerships with stakeholders to drive best practice
  • Promoting clinical supervision, continuous quality improvement, and shared learning
  • Sharing knowledge and expertise to ensure safe, effective interdisciplinary care

Qualifications & Skills

✔ Registered nurse (Adult-nursing specialism) ✔ NMC professional qualification ✔ Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD) ✔ Skills in multi-agency and multi-disciplinary working ✔ Non-judgemental & compassionate approach ✔ Strong communication skills

➔ Desirable but not essential: Experience in a hospital, community, or prison environment
