Role Description

The Primary PE Specialist will deliver engaging, age-appropriate PE lessons to primary school pupils in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom. This is an on-site role, involving planning and delivering curriculum PE and specialized sports sessions that promote fitness, skill development, and positive attitudes toward physical activity.

  • Preparing lesson plans
  • Leading classes and clubs (including breakfast, lunch, and after-school sessions)
  • Ensuring inclusive participation
  • Maintaining a safe learning environment
  • Supporting teacher mentoring and CPD
  • Contributing to school sports initiatives and events
  • Communicating effectively with school staff and parents about pupil progress and behavior
  • Helping develop new programs and activities that align with Edstart’s standards and values

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of PE curriculum design and delivery, with experience teaching or coaching primary-aged children.
  • Skills in organizing and leading sports activities, including inclusive practice and behavior management in a school setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with pupils, teachers, parents, and school leadership.
  • Ability to plan engaging, safe, and varied PE sessions that support physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Relevant qualification in Physical Education, Sports Coaching, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Recognized coaching certifications and up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
  • Adaptability, reliability, and the capacity to work across multiple schools or sites within the Manchester area.
  • Enhanced DBS (or equivalent) clearance and eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
