Primary SEND Teacher

Role: Primary SEND Teacher Location: Wythenshawe Salary: £32,000 - £46,000 PA Hours of Work: 8am–4pm (term-time) Position Type: Permanent (Full-time)


About This Opportunity Leader Group is recruiting for a specially trained Primary Teacher to join a ** specialised education provider**, working with KS1 and KS2 pupils with SEND. The role focuses on delivering personalised learning, supporting pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development through a nurturing, structured environment.

You’ll teach the broad primary curriculum, with a specific emphasis on phonics, reading, writing, and maths—while embedding communication, emotional regulation, and independence skills throughout school activities.


Responsibilities

Teaching & Curriculum Delivery

  • Plan and deliver personalised lessons aligned with individual needs and EHCP outcomes
  • Teach a broad, balanced primary curriculum for KS1 and KS2
  • Embed phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy while supporting SEND-specific learning

Pastoral & Wellbeing Support

  • Foster communication, emotional regulation, and independence in every pupil
  • Create a safe, engaging, and calm classroom environment
  • Apply positive behaviour strategies to enhance engagement and wellbeing

Progress & Collaboration

  • Assess, track, and report pupil progress clearly and regularly
  • Contribute to EHCP reviews, target-setting, and personalised support plans
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, and external professionals
  • Prepare pupils for smooth transitions into KS3

Requirements

Essential

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching in KS1 and/or KS2
  • Strong knowledge of SEND strategies and differentiated teaching
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues
  • Calm, nurturing, and resilient approach to challenging behaviour
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

Desirable

  • Previous experience in specialist SEND or SEMH provision
  • Experience delivering personalised education plans (EHCP)
