Role Description

The Primary Supply Teacher role is a full-time, on-site position based in Derby, working across local primary schools as needs arise.

The teacher will deliver engaging lessons that follow the National Curriculum, adapt existing plans where provided, and create appropriate learning activities when required.

Daily tasks include:

  • Managing the classroom
  • Maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Assessing pupil progress and providing clear feedback in line with school policies

The role involves collaborating with school staff, following safeguarding procedures, and building strong relationships with pupils and colleagues to ensure continuity of learning during staff absences.

The Primary Supply Teacher is expected to be flexible, reliable, and prepared to work across different year groups and school settings while maintaining high professional standards.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

  • Strong Teaching and Elementary Education skills, with experience delivering lessons to primary-aged learners.
  • Curriculum Development and Education skills, including planning, adapting, and evaluating learning activities in line with school and national guidelines.
  • Excellent Communication skills, with the ability to engage pupils, collaborate with staff, and liaise clearly with school leadership.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, and relevant classroom experience in UK primary settings are highly beneficial.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices, behaviour management strategies, and inclusive education approaches is preferred.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new school environments, work independently, and maintain accurate records and marking is advantageous.
  • Up-to-date enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) and eligibility to work in the UK are required.
