121 Home Tutors is a specialist tuition service providing independent educational advice and tailored student-to-tutor matching across South Manchester and Cheshire East. With over 20 years of sector experience, the organization focuses on understanding each learner’s goals, needs, and learning style to connect them with an appropriate educator. Families rely on 121 Home Tutors for fully vetted tutors who undergo background checks, qualification verification, and DBS screening. The service covers core subjects such as Maths, English, Science, and History for all ages and levels, including targeted support for key exams like 11+ Prep, GCSEs, and A-Levels. Tuition is offered through in-person home visits in the local area, complemented by interactive online lessons nationwide.
Role Description
We are looking for locally based primary teachers/tutors to join our South Manchester & Cheshire network. The role is on a self-employed basis, ideally on-site (student's homes) in South Manchester, & East Cheshire areas. Hours are varied and depend on client demand and tutor availability, but are typically out of school hours and weekends. We do have some requests for home-schooling. Most demand for primary tuition is for in-person, rather than online so we are looking for local teachers/tutors that offer tuition at KS1, KS2 primary levels, ideally also covering 11+ and entrance test prep.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons aligned with the national curriculum
- Assessing student progress
- Adapting teaching methods to individual learning styles and needs
- Collaborating with parents and guardians to set clear learning objectives
- Providing regular feedback
- Supporting confidence building and exam readiness where appropriate
The role also involves:

- Contributing to a positive, inclusive learning environment that reflects the standards and ethos of 121 Home Tutors
Qualifications

- Strong teaching skills in core primary subjects (e.g., Maths and English) and familiarity with the relevant national curriculum.
- Ability to assess learning needs, differentiate instruction, and design age-appropriate lesson plans and learning activities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with learners and maintain constructive relationships with families.
- Organizational skills to manage schedules, track progress, and document lesson outcomes clearly and accurately.
- Commitment to safeguarding, including an enhanced DBS check (or a willingness to apply for one) and adherence to child protection and safety guidelines.
- Recognized teaching qualification or significant tutoring/teaching experience with primary-aged students.
- Comfort working in an on-site home environment in Wilmslow, with reliability and punctuality for arranged sessions.
- Patience, empathy, and a learner-centered approach that supports diverse abilities and promotes confidence and independence.
