Location: Wokingham

Hours: 10 hours per week, with additional hours available

Duration: Full academic year

Delivery: In-person tuition in the child’s home – this is not online work


About the Role

Quantum Scholars is looking for a patient, adaptable and experienced Primary Tutor to support a non-speaking Year 5 pupil with SEND through an Education Otherwise Than At School (EOTAS) provision in Wokingham.

The tuition will take place in the child’s home and will require an individualized approach informed by EYFS and KS1 teaching methods. The successful tutor will build a positive and consistent relationship with the pupil, adapting learning activities to suit their communication, developmental and educational needs.

  • Delivering engaging, individualized tuition in the child’s home
  • Supporting the pupil as part of an EOTAS provision
  • Using EYFS and KS1 approaches to plan suitable learning activities
  • Supporting the pupil’s communication, confidence and engagement with learning
  • Adapting activities and resources to meet the pupil’s SEND needs
  • Using visual, sensory and practical strategies where appropriate
  • Setting achievable learning goals and monitoring progress
  • Working closely with the pupil’s family and other professionals
  • Maintaining clear records and providing regular progress updates
  • Creating a calm, supportive and consistent learning environment

Essential Requirements

  • Experience teaching or tutoring pupils within EYFS or KS1
  • QTS
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND
  • Confidence working with a non-speaking pupil
  • Experience of EOTAS or home-based tuition would be advantageous
  • A patient, flexible and child-centred approach
  • Strong communication and record-keeping skills
  • A recognised teaching qualification or relevant tutoring experience
  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check
  • Satisfactory professional references
  • You must have the right to work in the UK.
