Primary Tutors - 1:1 Tuition Somerset

Primary Tutor - Somerset

About the Role

Quantum Scholars is seeking caring, reliable, and experienced Primary Tutors to deliver 1:1 tuition for primary-aged children across Somerset, in settings such as:

  • Home visits
  • Community spaces
  • Online tuitions

Tuition will support children who may be:

  • Educated other than at school
  • Awaiting a suitable placement
  • In need of personalised additional support

The ideal candidate will excel in delivering a nurturing, flexible, and child-centred approach, focusing on:

  • Building strong positive relationships
  • Adapting learning to meet individual needs
  • Creating engaging sessions that enhance confidence, progress, and re-engagement with education

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering 1:1 tuition tailored for primary-aged children
  • Planning and delivering personalised learning activities, ensuring:
    • Support for core skills (litreacy, numeracy, communication)
    • Creative and interest-led engagement strategies
    • Adaptation to each child’s needs, pace, and emotional readiness
  • Safeguarding support for children with:
    • SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities)
    • SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) needs
    • Additional gaps in learning, anxiety, or holistic well-being concerns
  • Maintaining professional communication with:
    • Parents or carers
    • Relevant professionals (e.g., schools, social workers)
  • Keeping detailed records of:
    • Session content, attendance, engagement, and progress

Requirements

Essential Criteria

  • Experience working with primary-aged children (formal or informal)
  • A patient, nurturing, and flexible approach to learning
  • Strong ability to:
    • Plan engaging, child-centred activities
    • Adapt delivery to meet individual requirements
  • Robust communication and organisational skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding best practice and child-welfare outcomes
  • Legal right to work in the UK
  • Agility to obtain an enhanced DBS check
  • Willingness to provide suitable professional references

Desirable Qualifications

  • Qualified Teaching Status (QTS)
  • Experience with tuition requirements typically fulfilled by qualified teachers
  • Extensive backgrounds in private tutoring or targeted education support
