The Opportunity
As a ** Scotland AI proposition**, this role stands at the forefront of a shared opportunity: to reshape AI-driven education and workforce development for the UK. It’ll nut an empty roof and set the standards for high-standard upskilled graduates, AI-capable workforce-productivity tools, course evaluation, and agent-platform integration in-house.
This is your chance to design, build, and lead—at scale—exactly what edutech’s full system of design needs. You are not a line manager yet, but your presence transforms several AI engineers at once: you’ll be the scalable practice-setters for how this ethos—“great code mindshare”—makes solid technical strides.
The engineering team is structurally and culturally designed to ship, not advise. Which means: write code for MLS highway-sharing, in-service networks; rely on pairing deep-dives; take first-dibs affirmants made independently; contribute to shared assessment tools and tool direction; foster measurable AI-shipping habits across engineering. Shipping products to people is the only way to make a reality.
What You’ll Do: AI Agent Architect And Force Multiplier
Technical Product Ownership
- Design a unified AI-agent platform – define all architecture for orchestration layers, memory & context, evaluation frameworks, and tree-caching/concurrency + costIVE view-in-doers
- Ship concrete ML-based agents into production (multi-agent, standby, context-aligned), with monitoring pipelines, and tracking thing-managed data pipelines
- At least one hyper-owned agent system will go live within six months
Engineering Leverage
- Evolve standards so others must own
- Debate & record why not: eval, multi-agent/git patterns, guardrails, observability
- Coart author-case for: same units, units description (best pract completeness)
- Below AI Integration Layer: help others code safely and efficiently using predictable, proven methods – like:
- Define how our agents communicate with systems/build models
- Own interface APIs for frontend to deploy apps with custom intent resolution smarts
- Build integrated data-value (BFMCP) concepts to supplement existing user-metrics solutions
