Opportunity
An opportunity exists within the UK Packaged Gases Technology & Marketing Team for a Principal Applications Specialist (Fabrication) who will be responsible for:
- Delivering their own individual Merchant Fabrication business growth and retention targets.
- Leading a Regional Merchant Applications Specialists’ Team of 3-4 Application Specialist’s to deliver on regional new business and profit retention targets across the UK & Ireland Merchant Country Cluster.
- Building & maintaining effective commercial collaboration between the Application Specialists’ team and the Merchant Commercial team and a positive working environment in the Fabrication segment.
- Developing and delivering a Regional Key Customer & Technology Contacts Plan.

Responsibilities
As the Principal Applications Specialist (Fabrication) you will:
- As a leader: Coach & manage a Regional Fabrication Applications Team to deliver against Regional new business and profit retention targets.
- As an individual: Work alongside commercial colleagues to Win NEW Merchant Fabrication Accounts.
- As an individual: Build loyalty and maximise returns in existing Merchant Fabrication Accounts.
- Carry-out training courses for colleagues and channel partners (agents).
- Assist with marketing & promotional events, attend exhibitions, etc.
- Build and maintain relationships with key equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
Requirements
As the Business Development Manager, you already are or have:
- Performed as an effective team leader.
- Highly proficient in craft welding skills particularly in MIG/MAG, TIG welding and Oxy/fuel welding & cutting. Approved welding craft apprenticeship with extensive experience in the metal fabrication industry (welding & cutting).
- Up to date knowledge of technology in welding/fabrication sector.
- Self-motivated and self-managed with excellent self-discipline, good influencing & negotiating skills and highly developed sales ability.
- Good interpersonal skills and an excellent team player.
- Good PC skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internal software.
