Principal Agentic AI Architect

Rate: £800 (Inside IR35) | Location: London/Bristol (2 days per week onsite)
Contract: 6 – 12 month (extensions highly likely)

We are seeking a Principal Agentic AI Architect to lead the strategy, architecture, and governance of enterprise-scale Conversational AI and Agentic AI platforms. This is a unique opportunity to define target architectures, establish reusable AI patterns, and drive the adoption of cutting-edge AI technologies within a highly regulated enterprise environment. As the Principal Agentic AI Architect, you will own the end-to-end AI architecture strategy, ensuring scalable, secure, and governed AI solutions are delivered using modern Large Language Models (LLMs), multi-agent systems, and Google Cloud technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the enterprise target architecture for Conversational AI and Agentic AI platforms
  • Lead technical design authority across complex AI transformation programmes
  • Develop reusable architecture patterns, standards, and engineering frameworks
  • Architect scalable multi-agent AI solutions using modern LLM orchestration techniques
  • Establish governance frameworks covering AI security, compliance, and responsible AI
  • Create reference architectures, engineering playbooks, and implementation standards
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects, engineering teams, and business stakeholders
  • Mentor architects and engineers on Agentic AI best practices and emerging technologies
  • Ensure AI platforms are scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with enterprise strategy
  • Drive continuous innovation across enterprise AI capabilities

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 15+ years' experience in Enterprise Architecture or Solution Architecture
  • Proven experience leading large-scale AI architecture programmes
  • Deep expertise in:
    • Agentic AI
    • Conversational AI
    • Multi-Agent Systems
    • Large Language Models (LLMs)
    • LLM Orchestration
    • Context Engineering
  • Strong experience with:
    • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
    • Vertex AI
  • Enterprise architecture experience within highly regulated environments
  • Strong understanding of:
    • AI Governance
    • Responsible AI
    • AI Security
  • Experience producing enterprise architecture standards and reference architectures
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and executive communication skills
  • Proven ability to mentor technical teams and establish engineering best practices
