About Us

We are part of International Airlines Group (IAG), one of the world’s leading airline groups and owner of some of the biggest brands in the sky. IAG Transform provides creative and innovative solutions to drive sustainable transformation by delivering procurement and airline services, as well as group-wide systems across IAG. Each operating company benefits from the Transform centralised model, driving efficiencies, automation, and economies of scale.

Purpose of the Role

The Generalist Principal Architect is accountable for maintaining a holistic, enterprise-wide architectural view across business, application, information, integration, infrastructure, cloud, and service domains. The role acts as a technology-agnostic, vendor-neutral authority, providing independent, expert architectural leadership and assurance to ensure that technology change across the Group is coherent, scalable, secure, and aligned to business strategy.

Unlike domain or product-specific architecture roles, this position is explicitly generalist in scope, operating horizontally across platforms, products, and operating companies, and focusing on how architecture collectively enables strategic outcomes. This role operates as part of the OpCo architecture function, accountable for local architecture outcomes and decision-making. While aligned to Group Enterprise Architecture strategy, policies, and principles, the role retains autonomy to shape and govern OpCo architectural solutions that best meet local business, delivery, and regulatory needs.

Your Responsibilities

Enterprise & Cross-Domain Architecture

  • Maintain an end-to-end architectural view across business capability, applications, integrations, data, infrastructure, cloud, security, and service layers
  • Ensure architectural coherence across domains, identifying and addressing duplication, fragmentation, or misalignment
  • Operate as a senior architectural authority able to review, challenge, and arbitrate design decisions across multiple technology areas

Strategy, Change & Enablement

  • Translate business and Group strategy into clear architectural principles, target states, and transition roadmaps
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, modernise, or converge technology landscapes in support of business objectives
  • Support major programmes and initiatives by ensuring architectural integrity from concept through delivery

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
