Principal Architect Tech Lead – Freight
About the Role
The Principal Architect Tech Lead – Freight will act as the "Technology Leader" for T&S, overseeing the delivery of a T&S-wide Freight Trading / Operations platform suite. This includes key systems supporting maritime vessel vetting and assurance. The role will responsibility for architecture designs, roadmaps, and engineering leadership to deliver the strategic vision for these platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Enterprise Capability teams to ensure technical landscape consistency
- Develop and maintain a target state landscape vision
- Stay updated on external architecture and engineering trends across both enterprise and industry levels
- Provide strategic consultancy, including benchmarking against external practices and externalization efforts with a visible external perspective
- Influence IDT strategy in their domain, guiding architecture and engineering investments with forward-thinking insight
- Maximise business value of IT solutions by integrating business needs, existing applications, and current/emerging technology knowledge
- Line-manage solution architects in this area, optimising resource allocation (staff/contractors) to ensure delivery success
- Act as an engineering activity manager, fostering high-performance technical delivery, technical assurance, and fit-for-purpose tools/processes
- Escalate engineering blockers to broader enterprise leadership
- Uphold a high-tech performance culture built on:

- Proactively manage technical risks, resolve vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with quality and security standards

Required Experience & Skills
-
Technical expertise in:
- Freight Trading (Veson IMOS/Endur)
- Voyage Management (Veson IMOS)
- Post-Delivery Events (Claims, Quality, Demurrage)
- Vetting/Assurance (GMAS & MIS Marine)
- Technology platforms: Azure, data (ADC & Databricks), and integrations (ADF, Kafka)

Strong business domain knowledge in:
- Freight trading
- Voyage operations
- Post-delivery events & vetting

Practical experience in:
- TOGAF architectural frameworks
- C4 design & modelling practices

Strategic thinking & decision-making skills, capable of defining vision and directing operations within complex business & technical environments (e.g., IDT)

Proven IT leadership experience, particularly in architecture, engineering, or senior management roles
