Principal Electrical Engineer – Building Services Design & Engineering

We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Building Services design team in Maidenhead or London. You’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary department, providing detailed Building Services designs for buildings-related projects across the UK and overseas. This role offers flexible working arrangements, including a minimum of 3 days per week in the office/on site with the option of adjusted start and finish times.

What the Role Involves

As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you’ll work closely with experienced electrical and mechanical engineers—as well as colleagues across the Building Services Business Unit in the UK—to deliver projects by:

  • Undertaking outline and detailed designs and specifications for electrical works.
  • Providing day-to-day technical input as part of a team of engineers and technicians.
  • Ensuring design outputs are completed in accordance with scope of works, timescales, and budgets.
  • Collaborating cross-functionally to deliver project requirements and added value to clients.
  • Attending design and site meetings.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring the following:

  • A degree in Building Services Engineering (or equivalent) and:
    • Chartered status (or working toward it with a relevant professional institution).
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role, with strong:
    • Project management skills.
  • Proven ability to:
    • Manage multiple projects while meeting varying deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills—and confidence working with architects and contractors to develop innovative solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt your style to your audience.
  • In-depth knowledge of the UK construction market, including:
    • Revit
    • Navisworks
    • Clash Detection
    • AMetch (Amtech)
  • The capacity to act as a mentor and lead technical discussions.
