I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The consultancy environment can be very fast paced with opportunities emerging at very short notice that will require a flexible, agile approach to delivering excellence in consultancy services and meeting or exceeding client requirements. We crunch a lot of data, write a lot of reports, share our learning and knowledge with each other and really get to know our clients. If this sounds like a challenge that appeals to you, we would love to speak with you to understand how you might fit into our team.
We have a flat collegiate structure and work in small project teams where our philosophy is to encourage you to manage your own career and time. You’ll have far more autonomy than our competitors offer, and, in return, we ask that you deliver high quality work and ensure that our clients continue to come back to us (currently 80% of our work is repeat business!). As part of the business development, extensive client engagement and delivery focused nature of the role, you should expect to travel both within the UK and beyond.
In return we offer a competitive salary and a range of additional benefits including discretionary bonus, pension, private healthcare, life insurance, in house training, a great work/life balance and opportunities to travel.
