About Us

Solving the great societal challenges of our time is more relevant, demanding, and inspiring than ever before. At Sweco, we bring together experts with different perspectives and skills to develop solutions that address the challenges of urbanisation, harness the positive power of digitalisation, and make societies more sustainable.

Sweco Building Control is the leading Building Control consultancy in England and Wales, providing market-leading expertise as a Registered Building Control Approver since 1998. We pride ourselves on our quality and technical expertise that underpins our full suite of Building Control services. Our approach is to listen and engage with our clients to anticipate the regulatory issues that will need resolving and work in partnership to deliver a successful project.

We are currently looking for motivated Class 2 and 3 Building Inspectors to join our team. We operate a hybrid model which for us means typically 3 days in the office or on site and 2 days at home (depending on the need for site visits/clients meetings).

What does the role involve?

You’ll manage a broad and interesting range of projects where you will be a member of a highly motivated team and have responsibility for:

  • Undertaking plan checks submitted for Building Regulation approval.
  • Undertaking site visits, preparing site visit reports, witnessing tests (therefore a full, valid driving licence is essential).
  • Attending client and design team meetings to give professional advice regarding building control work.
  • Be familiar with and use the management systems, including complying with the Quality Management system.
  • Operating in accordance with the commercial requirements of the projects (costs and programme).

What We Need

  • RBI registration with a proven track record within Building Control.
  • RICS, CABE, CIOB, or similar accreditation.
  • A qualified and experienced expert with a commitment to excellence.
  • A #DifferenceMaker outlook – we’re transforming society together in everything we do.
  • Strong technical knowledge and a creative problem-solving mindset.
  • A proactive approach to client relationships and delivering outstanding service.

What's in it for you?

Working for Sweco Building Control, you’ll experience an inclusive, friendly, and flexible working environment where colleagues are encouraged to grow and develop together. A meaningful career where you’ll help to transform society by being a trusted consultant to our clients.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
