Job Title: Principal Building Control Surveyor (Building Control)
Hours: 37 per week
Salary: HC10 (£46,142 to £50,269 per annum)
Location: Plough Lane, Hereford
Contract: Permanent

About the Role
Herefordshire Council are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable and RBI 3 Principal Building Control Surveyor to join their Building Control Team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a deep understanding of the sector who wants to help shape a growing team as the industry evolves.
What Will You Be Doing?
Under the direction of the Building Control Manager, you will:
- Lead an existing team of Building Control Surveyors and Technical Support Officers at an operational level, handling:
- Day-to-day activities
- Administrative duties
- Deputising for the Building Control Manager when necessary
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage building control-related enquiries, including:
- Regulation applications
- Site inspections
- Building Safety Levy charges
- Pre-application advice
- Potentially dangerous structure reports
- Relevant enforcement enquiries
- Collaborate with the council’s IT providers to ensure:
- Up-to-date and accurate computer records
- Preparation of periodic data reports
- Work closely with colleagues to drive council projects and report to the Building Control Manager.
About You
Principal Building Control Surveyor essential criteria:
- RBI 3 registration (as required by the role)
- Demonstrated expertise in building control, regulatory issues, and legislation
- Proven ability to:
- Work independently
- Manage under tight deadlines
- Juggle multiple work streams

Key Attributes:
- Strong management and leadership capabilities
