Warwick (Hybrid)

Salary From £57,000 Plus Benefits

National Gas is securing Britain’s energy. We transport gas throughout Great Britain, repair and maintain gas pipelines, and manage the meters that allow millions of homes and businesses to access the energy they need. We are the national gas network, providing secure energy to power Britain, achieve net zero, and maintain our industrial competitiveness.

We're looking for a highly analytical and commercially minded Principal Capacity Strategy & Development Analyst to lead the development of capacity strategies that maximise network efficiency, deliver value for customers and support regulatory compliance.

You'll combine data-led insight, strategic thinking and stakeholder influence to manage capacity constraints, unlock opportunities for additional capacity release and optimise performance against key commercial incentives. You'll work closely with operational teams, customers, regulators and industry partners to shape decisions that have a direct impact on network performance and customer outcomes.

Join us, and help be the energy behind the change.

About The Role

You'll be responsible for developing and implementing commercial strategies that help National Gas manage network constraints and maximise opportunities across the National Transmission System (NTS). You'll use data, market insight and industry knowledge to identify emerging risks and opportunities, provide strategic recommendations and influence key business decisions.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Leading the development and delivery of capacity strategies for managing network constraints and additional capacity release.
  • Using data and market analysis to identify trends, assess risks and support decision-making that enhances commercial and operational performance.
  • Driving performance against the Constraint Management Incentive and identifying opportunities to improve outcomes for customers and the business.
  • Working closely with the National Control Centre and operational teams to ensure strategies are effective, practical and fit for purpose.
  • Collaborating with Markets and Commercial teams to develop capacity methodologies, support industry modifications and implement regulatory changes.
  • Providing strategic recommendations to senior leaders on capacity risks, opportunities and commercial performance.
  • Building strong relationships with Ofgem, gas shippers and wider industry stakeholders, representing National Gas and influencing future industry developments.
  • Leading, coaching and developing team members while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Acting as a key contributor during emergency or incident situations through participation in the Network Emergency Management Team.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
