About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Health and Safety & CDM Consultant based in Newcastle, to provide expert CDM (Construction Design and Management) and H&S Management consultancy to both existing and new clients. This is a dynamic and flexible role, requiring versatility to meet Clients’ specific needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement & Advisor Role
    • Understand client challenges, proactively propose tailored solutions and consistently deliver exceptional service.
    • Act as a trusted advisor, representing Turner & Townsend’s professional standards through active client relationships.
    • Manage engagements to ensure alignment with client expectations while adhering to Turner & Townsend’s business systems.

  • Technical Expertise & Compliance

    • Provide expert CDM and H&S management advice, including acting as Principal Designer (where required) to guide clients on their legal obligations under CDM regulations.
    • Support pre-construction information and health and safety files preparation.
  • Systemic Improvement & Analysis

    • Develop and refine CDM and H&S processes to enhance efficiency and operational performance.
  • Performance & Auditing

    • Conduct Health & Safety performance reviews and audits to support clients effectively.
  • Team Collaboration & Profitability

    • Collaborate closely with turnerandtownsend’s Safety, Health & Quality (SHQ) and wider colleagues to Drive consistency, quality and profitability across shared projects.
  • Stakeholder Management

    • Liaise professionally with clients, external stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure alignments, clarity, and deadline adherence.

Requirements

Professional Qualifications

  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate
  • Full UK driving licence
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
  • GradIOSH (Graduate Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) or equivalent
  • Membership of the Association for Project Safety (APS)
  • Experience as a Principal Designer

Industry Experience & Knowledge

  • Extensive knowledge of the Construction Industry, with a deep understanding of CDM regulations.
  • A track record of delivering diverse sector-based projects and meeting client-specific needs.
  • Excellent communication skills (ability to articulate complex information clearly).
