Principal HV Cable Route Engineer - Civil

Location: Greater London (Hybrid)

Salary: Up to £80,000 + benefits

Would you like to lead technically complex underground cable routing schemes supporting transmission networks, substations, renewable energy developments and battery energy storage projects?

Are you looking for an opportunity to provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, influence engineering strategy and play a key role in the growth of a specialist engineering team?

Turner Lovell is recruiting a Principal HV Cable Route Engineer to join a growing engineering contractor delivering critical energy infrastructure projects across the UK. This opportunity sits within a specialist civils team responsible for the development of underground HV cable infrastructure projects, supporting major utility, renewable energy and private network schemes.

The successful candidate will act as the technical lead across a portfolio of projects, providing engineering leadership from feasibility through to construction support. Working closely with the Design Manager, you will take ownership of technical decision-making, oversee engineering quality and support the continued development of junior engineers.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
