Position Overview

With our ongoing success in business growth, we are expanding our Technical team and have a new opportunity for a Principal Civil Engineer to join us to develop and deliver a wide range of clean technologies and renewable projects. The successful candidate will support work assignments covering technical aspects and project development deliverables for our customers in both public and private sectors. This involves working with the team to produce and deliver engineering deliverables, undertake feasibility studies & detailed design, and complete on-site reviews.

Key Responsibilities

  • Main point of contact for Civil Engineering inputs across the company, specifically on large scale electrical projects (BESS, Solar PV, ASHP, Industrial Boilers)
  • Ability to produce drawings, schematics to applicable industry standards.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of industry standards.
  • Support with the management of sub-contractors to deliver, or self-deliver detailed design covering both geotechnical and structural elements, and undertake reviews of designs, and provide technical support during construction and commissioning.
  • Produce outline engineering work packages and scope of work documents for contractors to provide pricing.
  • Provide Engineering support to the AMRC Delivery Team during construction and managing engineering changes in line with company procedures.
  • Review and identify both project and constructability risks focusing on technical/design aspects.
  • Liaise with client stakeholders and attend regular client project meetings - including in person.
  • Preparation of technical reports, presentation and all project supporting documentation including specifications, tender assessments, risk assessment etc.
  • Use CAD to aid production of drawings.
  • Perform additional duties as specified by line manager/director.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Engineering degree, or equivalent in Civil or Structural engineering
  • Achieved or working towards chartered engineer status
  • Demonstrated lead development skills including the ability to building project scopes and assess the constructability of design.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project scheduling tools

Desirable skills / Experience

  • Previous experience with Substation / BESS / Industrial buildings
  • AutoCAD / Civil 3D and related design softwares

Personal Attributes

The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, confident and have a flexible approach to work. They will be customer focused, passionate about renewable energy and decarbonisation. They should be able to demonstrate good organisational skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritise work under pressure and complete within deadlines. A team player with the ability to work in fast-paced environment across multiple projects. This job may require the willingness to travel across the UK and abroad.
