Principal Civil & Structural Engineer
Location: Stanlow Manufacturing Complex, Ellesmere Port
Employment Type: Site Based Full Time Role, 5 days per week, Monday-Friday

About the Company
EET (Essar Energy Transition) vision is to be the leading producer of low carbon fuels and establish a blueprint energy transition hub in the North West. EET plays a major role in supplying the Northwest and the wider UK with essential fuels. We produce over 16% of the UK’s road transport fuels, supply key feedstocks to the petrochemical industry, and are investing heavily in low-carbon energy solutions.

About the Role
As Principal Civil & Structural Engineer you’ll act as the technical authority for all civil, structural, and infrastructure assets across the refinery, while leading and developing a team of engineers. You’ll ensure assets are safe, compliant, and reliable throughout their lifecycle, providing expert guidance across maintenance, integrity, and projects.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Leading civil & structural engineering governance, standards, and assurance
- Owning inspection and integrity strategies (RBI, maintenance planning, lifecycle management)
- Supporting maintenance, operations, and projects with expert technical input
- Driving infrastructure reliability, turnaround delivery, and continuous improvement
- Managing budgets, business cases, and long-term capital planning
- Championing safety, compliance, and Goal Zero across all activities
This is a highly visible role requiring close collaboration across site teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
About You
You’re an experienced Civil or Structural Engineer with strong expertise in infrastructure integrity and asset management within a high-hazard or industrial environment. You combine technical depth with leadership capability and the ability to influence across multidisciplinary teams.

You will bring:
- Degree in Civil Engineering and Chartered status (or working towards it)
- Significant experience in petrochemical, energy, or similar industries
- Strong knowledge of structural integrity, inspection, and maintenance of aged infrastructure
- Experience with concrete, steel structures, foundations, and marine environments
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex maintenance or project programmes
- Solid understanding of engineering standards (API, British Standards, etc.)
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, and financial acumen
You’re a collaborative leader who prioritises safety, drives performance, and is passionate about engineering excellence.
