Principal Clinical Psychologist – Level 2 Mental Health Inpatient Rehabilitation

About the Role

You will work at Field House, an 8-bed specialist inpatient rehabilitation service for women with:

  • Mental illness
  • Learning disabilities
  • Autism
  • Personality disorders
  • Trauma histories and attachment disorders

The service combines traditional rehabilitation-focused support with single and dual occupancy apartments to provide a seamless, client-centred care pathway. There is a strong emphasis on positive risk-taking, encouraging self-reliance, trust-building, and self-esteem development.

Reporting to the Consultant Clinical Psychologist, you will:

  • Assist in developing strategic and clinical pathways for neurological and mental health care through specialist psychological advice and interventions.
  • Lead and oversee the specialist psychological programme, working within a transdisciplinary team.
  • Provide supervision and peer training to ensure the team understands the foundational ethos, evidence base, and practice principles.
  • Support workforce development through continuous professional development (CPD)— Field House is committed to offering ongoing training opportunities for career progression.

Key Responsibilities

As a Principal Clinical Psychologist at Field House, you will:

  • Design and implement evidence-based psychological and neurological treatment pathways.
  • Identify and develop new specialist services for patients with complex psychosocial needs.
  • Ensure all non-medical therapeutic interventions align with a conceptual framework, underpinned by robust empirical evidence.
  • Monitor and evaluate service effectiveness in collaboration with multidisciplinary colleagues.

About the Service Model

Field House operates within a blended rehabilitation model, offering:

  • Single and dual-bed accommodation alongside communal facilities.
  • Psychological interventions, including:
    • Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF‐CBT)
    • Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
    • Specialist support for individuals with early-life trauma and attachment disorders.
  • A focus on positive risk-taking, recovery, trust-building, and psychological empowerment.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • BPS-accredited and HCPC-approved doctoral-level psychology qualification.
  • HCPC registration as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist.
  • Must be a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  • Preference for experience related to Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) networks.
  • Post-doctoral expertise in research methodology, data analysis, and complex designs.
