Job Overview: Clinical Psychologist (Part-Time)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to take on an important part-time role within our multidisciplinary inherited bleeding disorders team.
You will collaborate closely with physiotherapy, nursing, and medical colleagues across a pan-BCU service to enhance the health and psychological wellbeing of individuals affected by inherited bleeding disorders. Strong cross-disciplinary and regional partnerships exist, including:
- South Wales inherited bleeding disorders services
- Haemophilia Psychology Association
- Haemophilia Wales
- North Wales Doctoral Clinical Psychology Training Course
Main Duties & Responsibilities
The role involves providing psychological assessment and interventions primarily for individuals with inherited bleeding disorders. Additional key duties include:
- Collaborative practice: Working with colleagues to foster service access and engagement, ensuring optimal care experiences for service users.
- Service leadership: Opportunities to contribute to service development,consultation, and teaching/support for multidisciplinary teams.
- Inter-speciality collaboration: Potential for cross-specialty collaboration, e.g., with gynaecology and obstetrics teams.
- Professional development and research: Work will involve continuing professional development (CPD), research, audit, and trainee support—especially supervising Doctoral-level trainee clinical psychologists.
The posthold a Welsh medium working environment in North Wales. While proficiency in Welsh is desirable, applications are equally welcomed in English.

Detailed Job Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide specialised clinical psychology services to clients, including psychological assessments and therapeutic interventions for inherited bleeding disorders and related conditions.
- Operate autonomously, adhering to:
- The British Psychological Society Code of Conduct, Ethical Principles, and Guidelines
- HPC (Health and Care Professions Council) standards
Roles in Service Quality Management
- Oversee systematic governance of psychological practice within the service, ensuring high standards.
- Supervise multi-level staff (including Senior Clinical Practitioners), managing:
- Appraisals and Performance and Development Reviews (PADRs)
- Informal grievance processes
Strategic & Educational Roles
- Contribute to local team policy and procedure developments for continuous quality improvement.
- Advise managers and healthcare leadership on psychological and organisational service needs.
- Offer clinical placements for trainee clinical psychologists (Doctoral level) and deliver multi-disciplinary training sessions.

Utilise research skills to advance audit, clinical guidelines, service innovation, and academia (e.g., policy submissions).

Serve as a panel member in staff recruitment processes (as relevant), alongside senior colleagues.

Day-to-day management of the inherited bleeding disorders psychology service in collaboration with Senior Clinical Psychologists and Team Leaders.

Professional Registration
✔ HCPC (Health & Care Professions Council) registration guaranteed
Essential Experience
✔ Clinical psychology expertise in managing physical health condition presentations with inherited bleeding disorders.
Supervision
Essential ✔ Demonstrated experience in supervising non-psychologist colleagues.
Desirable ✔ Post-qualification formal supervision training (e.g., accredited courses).
Teaching & Training
Essential ✔ Proven experience teaching and training staff (medical, nursing, supporting allied health professionals).
Service Development
Essential ✔ Successfully driven service improvement schemes, as evidenced by impact.
Desirable ✔ Formal accreditation in:
- IQT (Improving Quality Training)
- Betsiway or equivalent improvement methodologies in healthcare.
Publication
Desirable ✔ Publishing research (journals, conferences, professional reports, or equivalency).
