Principal Clinical Psychologist (Children's)

Clinical Psychologist - Children’s Psychological Health and Wellbeing

We invite you to join us in making a real difference for children and families here at University Hospitals Plymouth [UHP]. We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Clinical Psychologist to help shape and lead needs-led psychological care across community and acute paediatric services.

This is a unique opportunity to work across the whole system — supporting children and young people with complex needs, strengthening teams, and improving the delivery of care across hospital and community settings. You’ll play a key role in bringing a psychologically informed, compassionate approach to paediatric care, ensuring families receive the right support at the right time.

If you’re driven by improving healthcare outcomes, supporting colleagues, and fostering creative cross-boundary collaboration, we’d love to hear from you.

Eligibility & Applicant Preferences

Preference will be given to:

  • Internal Trust staff
  • Applicants with ‘Priority’ or ‘At Risk’ status (including NHS At Risk staff across Devon), demonstrating recent, relevant experience as outlined in the Person Specification.

About the Role

The role holder will provide highly specialist clinical, professional, and strategic leadership for psychological services within Children’s Psychological Health and Wellbeing at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
