Principal Clinical Psychologist - Wellbeing Hub Lead
Job Title: Principal Clinical Psychologist
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly skilled Principal Clinical Psychologist to join Stockport’s innovative Wellbeing Hub. The Hub brings together two specialist services: the Emotional Health and Wellbeing Team, which supports children aged 0–18 who are at child protection level or cared for by Stockport Family, and the Staying Close Wellbeing Service, which promotes the emotional wellbeing and mental health of care-experienced young people aged 16–25 who have lived in residential care. Together, these services provide a psychologically informed, relationally attuned offer for some of Stockport’s most vulnerable children and young people.
Responsibilities
The Principal Clinical Psychologist will provide clinical leadership across the Wellbeing Hub. The postholder will offer supervision to the Therapeutic Social Workers and Clinical Psychologist within the team, and will lead on embedding trauma-informed and trauma-responsive practice across the service. They will provide consultations, formulations, and reflective practice to support colleagues in understanding and responding to the emotional needs of care-experienced young people, helping to strengthen the psychological thinking that underpins care planning and multi-agency decision-making.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
